Our current Worcester City Councilors don't think our residents understand this important issue. The combination of our dual tax rate and an unfriendly business environment combined with councilors contintually voting for the 'lowest residential tax rate' has shifted and will continue to shift the tax burden to the residents. Before the dual tax rate, residential and commercial property owners shared the burden of providing city services at about 50/50. Today, residential property owners' share is almost 70%. The only logical way to change this is to create an agressive plan to expand our tax base and make a commitment to a fair and equitable plan to move the city back to a single tax rate.
