Question: Why do you feel this issue is so important?
Answer: Why is the issue so important, a great questions that all in Worcester should be aware of. The tax rate should be looked at as economic development and not just for new companies/businesses coming into Worcester but also as away for our local family owned business to expand, hire more local residents to work in the stores and to help keep our neighborhoods vibrant. This all goes towards our quality of life! Instead of complaining that another business has closed, laid off our resident employees and now we have to go farther out of our way to get the same services or products, lets find a way to work towards reducing our tax burden, both residential and on the commercial level. It will help us all. If this does not happen we the residents are and will be left to make up the difference as businesses close or move out of Worcester. Constantly voting the lowest residential tax rate does not lower our tax bill. The city should look into privatizing surplus buildings, creating areas of new growth through creative tax financing and other means that are done in other parts of the country and take that savings and apply it to our tax rate thus truly lowering our tax rate. Just my thoughts as a life long, proud Worcester resident. Question: Are you associated with any community activities?
Answer: I am involved with the North Worcester Business Association since 1988/89, Involved at my children's school via the PTO(Nelson Place School), have assisted in clean ups at Dodge Park.
